School Introduction
School Overview
•Waian Elementary School covers a total area of 9,154 square meters and is located in Waian Village, a vibrant fishing community at the southernmost tip of Xiyu Township, Penghu County. Positioned between the historic Waian Lighthouse to the west and the bustling Waian Fishing Port to the south, the campus enjoys a picturesque landscape, nestled against hills and facing the sea. While the school offers a serene environment, it is situated at a considerable distance from Magong City, requiring approximately 50 minutes of travel time.
•In 2008, recognizing a unique cultural opportunity, the school established its Dragon Dance and War Drum Troupe. The following year, the troupe began competing in national tournaments. Today, this traditional performing arts program has become a signature initiative of Waian Elementary School, consistently achieving outstanding competition results and frequently receiving invitations to perform at major public events.
Educational Objectives
•School-Based Curriculum: Align with national educational policies to design and implement a distinctive, school-based curriculum.
•Professional Development: Enhance teachers' professional capabilities by fostering their skills in curriculum design and pedagogical innovation.
•Quality Education: Create a premium learning environment that nurtures healthy, well-rounded, and joyful citizens.
Faculty and Resources
•The majority of our faculty members are young, dynamic, and highly motivated, actively pursuing continuous professional development and advanced training. Teaching assignments are strategically aligned with each instructor's individual expertise, fostering an atmosphere of immense pedagogical passion. However, due to our geographical location as the most remote school on the main island of Penghu, we experience a higher rate of faculty turnover, which presents challenges in long-term staff stability.
School Vision
•In alignment with local community characteristics and the specific needs of our students and parents, the collective vision of Waian Elementary School is built upon three pillars:
•Good Character: Fostering moral integrity, empathy, and social responsibility.
•Reflective Thinking: Encouraging curiosity, open-mindedness, and critical self-awareness.
•Logical Reasoning: Developing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and cognitive rigor.
